Presentation of the program

General information:

• Duration: 6 months

• Plateforms: WhatsApp, Email or Google Forum, Google Meet or Zoom, Facebook Messenger, etc
• Starting Date: February 1, 2021.
• Ending Date: July 31, 2021.
• Host Institutions: MISSION LIFE INTERNATIONAL(USA), ALPHANET (HAITI), OSPRIFA(DOMINICAN REPUBLIC).
• Public: Students From Alphanet Haiti, Student From Alphanet Dominican Republic, Students From Mission Life International University, Students from Life University(USA), Online Students of Alphanet Academy (World).

Introduction:

English learners and English Speakers in non-English speaking countries in the Caribbean often forget a lot of things they have learnt in this foreign language once they leave their courses. Alphanet is one of the most popular institutions that teach theses modern languages (English, Haitian Creole, Spanish, Portuguese and French).

Basically, Alphanet offers modern language courses in person in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. The online courses are also offered for students in all over the world. We regularly receive teams of native English speakers from the 5 continents in our locals in Haiti and some partner institutions in the Dominican Republic.

In order to create and opportunity for the students and English Learners in the Dominican Republic and Haiti and other places where Alphanet is working as a school, this international exchange and English Practice Program is offered to the selected participants.

Objectives:

• Offer to the participants an opportunity to practice English in context and develop new topic-based knowledge.
• Offer to the participants an opportunity to develop their skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing of the Standard American English.
• Offer to the participants the opportunity to develop international connections while learning about new cultures.
• Offer to the participants an opportunity to create new personal contents (texts, books, multimedia, blog, youtube channel…) talking about their culture, passion and hobbies.
• Offer to the participants an opportunity to receive an international certificate after successfully participate in this exchange and English practice program.

Activities:

• Discussion Forum by Email and on Whatsapp
• Voice message exchange through Whatsapp
• Content Production by the participants or group of participants
• Video conferencing session for sharing audiovisual and speeches
• Collective book and multimedia document editing and publishing with the content

How will it work:

• During about 6 months, every week a topic will be suggested to the participants.
• The participants can discuss about the topic or produce their own texts
• The other participants may have the possibility to ask questions about the presentations of the other participants or groups.
• At least, once a month the participants should be online for an open videoconferencing session.
• The program Managers, groups leaders should give a weekly report about the activities and production of the program
• The contents of the program remain the common properties of the Participants and Alphanet.
• The contents of the program may be edited and published by Alphanet with notification to all the participants.
